Meru and Brian – The Woodlands, Texas “My name is Meru, and my husband is Brian. I was once a prodigal who left my husband right before Covid hit, but God brought me back home before I filed for divorce. Following that reconciliation, we welcomed a baby whom we named Miracle. Despite a new baby and the amazing story we were building, my husband walked out of the house and refused to come back home. The day my husband walked out, God spoke to me and said: ‘I finish what I start, stand by, your marriage is going to be restored!’ My stand was definitely a process. From my husband saying he's never coming back and he wanted a divorce and me desperately wanting restoration but also letting my emotions take over and wanting to file the divorce so the nonsense would just end. The battle between flesh and spirit is real! Please know that obeying God was often a struggle for me. There were several times I refused to pray for us and decided to call divorce lawyers, thinking I was just done with this foolishness. But God kept me in line gently and lovingly despite my childish behavior at times. What made the greatest impact on my stand was simply obeying God and doing what He told me. He constantly asked me to show grace and forgiveness to my husband instead of being bitter. As I reluctantly obeyed, my husband started changing slowly, which started the slow journey of us moving towards restoration. I know it was God’s love flowing through me that brought my husband back. Throughout the journey, I ensured my husband knew I was standing for our marriage even when he wasn’t making Godly choices. I chose not to be the one to tell him what he was doing wrong but just pray for him. Another thing that got me through that time was surrounding myself with people who spoke life into my situation and shared with me Bible verses to overcome my struggles. I did regular 1-on-1 counseling sessions with Jason at Standing Supernaturally for Marriage Restoration and signed up for the Standing Supernaturally Academy. I know that finances are what keep many from hiring counselors and taking courses, but it was so worth it. My approach was that I was not going to assign a price tag to the restoration of my family. My husband returned home on his birthday, September 15th, which for me represented Luke chapter 15. His coming home was not all of a sudden, as things started to shift one step at a time. We started having conversations again, then a return to marital intimacy. Then we were able to speak about deep subjects such as parenting, money, and our challenges. And that led us to sign up for a weekly marriage class at church. I know full restoration is a process, and we are continuing to heal and grow together. We even re-sealed our commitment with a new wedding ring set as a symbol of new beginnings in front of all our children. I learned through this journey of standing to die to my flesh and be led by the Spirit. Yes, it was hard at times, but on the days I wanted to throw an emotional fit and no longer trust, I got up and obeyed. I just focused on God and His Word. I chose to keep standing in faith even after the days that I strayed away due to hurt and emotions. I was not perfect, but I know God honored my faithfulness in the end. There were days when I felt like I was crazy, and this restoration story was just in my own head. I questioned if my hearing from God was just my way of being in denial or that I was just a needy or desperate woman. That was what the world and the enemy told me and maybe even telling you. Remain steadfast, trusting in God to fulfill His promises. He is for your marriage; every doubt you may have is only the enemy’s lies. Shut them down! There is so much more to my journey than I can share here. Hear more of my story at www.drybonesliveministries.com. One more thing: Brian and I just found out that I am pregnant, and we are having a restoration baby! Isn’t God amazing!” Meru was a regular counseling client of Jason’s and a member of our 12-week e-course called “The Standing Supernaturally Academy.” If you’d like info on booking a 1-on-1 counseling call with Jason, go to www.StandingSupernaturally.com/Counseling.
